Our Capital Campaign for Our Carter Woods Park Facility

Learn how you could make a huge impact on youth and prep baseball in the Appleton West Community!

Our Mission

We appreciate the opportunity to tell you more about our Appleton West Baseball Club Capital Fundraising Project.  The project’s scope and our giving guidelines can be seen below and in a PDF hand out at the bottom of this page.

We have found a significant need within the Appleton West High School Community for additional facilities for our youth and our high school baseball teams.  As you may know, Appleton West High School does not have a baseball field on its campus.  They utilize Nienhaus Field (Formerly known as Goodland Field) for their practices and games.  All other High Schools in the Appleton Area School District have two full size fields on campus to utilize for practices and games.  AWBC, Inc. will support the teams by building and upgrading additional practice facilities that are in close proximity to Appleton West High School.  We also provide summer baseball leagues, tournaments, and training that benefit our members. We know that by providing this space, we can ease the stress on the players, parents, and coaches.

The total fundraising goal is $400,000. We have already received a potential commitment from the Town of Grand Chute totaling $239,600. This is subject to change based on an annual review of our progress in fundraising.  We are in the process of raising the remaining $160,400. Upon the completion of this project, Appleton West High School players and the surrounding community youth players will have practice fields and training facilities that are on par with the rest of our area high schools.

UPDATE - IN 2018, WE HAVE RAISED APPROXIMATELY $12,000.00...

We truly appreciate your consideration of making a donation to the fund and help us make a difference in the development of our Appleton West Terrors Baseball Program.  Please remember we are a registered 501 (c) (3), all donations are tax deductible.   If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either Pat Collar or Andy Henkel. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you.

History

Appleton West Baseball Club's First 13U Team in 2011

Our teams exclusively serve the Appleton West High School community. The first team was founded by Pat Collar in 2011 in an effort to provide an opportunity for  13 year old boys to transition from Little League baseball to high school level competition. The primary purpose of AWBC is to organize, foster, promote, and advance the sport of youth amateur baseball in a supervised, instructional and competitive manner.

AWBC's goal has always been to help raise the funds necessary for uniforms, league fees, equipment, as well as capital improvements of playing fields. We believe it is important to ensure the club’s sustainability for many years to come – with a goal of reducing/eliminating participation costs to ensure that we can offer our baseball program to youth players from all economic backgrounds.

What Upgrades are planned for Carter Woods Park?

·         Two field upgrades to allow for competitive games. This means that Appleton West High School freshman can stay home instead of busing to north side facilities for practice. And, AWBC will be able to host tournaments generating funds to sustain the facility for student athletes for years to come.

·         Two full length batting cages and practice stations for tee work and soft toss. This state of the art practice area includes turf, mounds and screens to accommodate fielding, pitching and catching.

·        Safety improvement including upgraded backstops, extra foul line safety netting and additional outfield fencing.

·         New storage and concessions facilities.

·         Scoreboards
